Votes For Women
When the Memorial to commemorate 100 years since WW1 was being discussed a suggestion was made that it should incorporate the Votes For Women centenary. It was not obvious how this could be done and it was decided that a bed of flowers in the colours of the Suffragette movement, purple, green and white, be made. One of the beds opposite The Rose Inn was chosen and plants of other colours were removed and distributed to other beds or saved for the plant sale. Penstemon, gladioli, leucanthemum, dahlias were amongst plants chosen.
